The space of BAIBAKOV art projects
BAIBAKOV art projects currently operates out of the former Red October Chocolate Factory, located on Bolotny Island in the center of Moscow. The factory was built in the mid-nineteenth century by the renowned architect Aleksander Kalmykov, one of the creative minds behind the Tretyakov Gallery. Red October consists of a unique ensemble of architectural monuments, with more than 20 buildings, all in the trademark red bricks. At this moment, the complex has become one of the capital’s leading cultural centers.
Under the Moscow City Council’s program for the preservation of historic buildings, Red October ceased to function as a factory and took on the function of a cultural center. This unique complex at the heart of the city is now rented out to those who not just interested in having an office in Moscow, but who are active in the redevelopment of a new municipal space.
As the factory is located on its' own island, it is set apart from the noise of the city, but it remains in the very center of Moscow, only a few steps from some of the most important sites for business and politics. Today this area also serves as a cultural hub; the factory’s neighbors include the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow House of Photography, and the capital’s famous "Golden Mile."
BAIBAKOV art projects currently operates out of a 3000 m2 space on the third floor of the main building of Red October. With walls standing over 4 meters and built to the highest of exhibition standards, the space is outfitted with a climate control system. The space also features facilities for catering, and elevators for both passengers and freight. There is parking for 400 cars directly on the territory of the factory. This makes the space ideal for events as well as exhibitions.
BAIBAKOV art projects’ space is divided into two parts:
The Red Hall features an open floor plan, measuring 1100 m2. The space enjoys an abundance of natural light and breathtaking views of the Church of Christ the Saviour, as well as panoramic river views. Additionally, the Red Hall boasts original factory floors and tiled columns.
The White Hall commands an open floor plan of over 1700 m2. The wall layout is designed for optimal usage, enabling multiple events to take place simultaneously within the same space. The hall is distinguished by its row of stately white columns, which make it the ideal setting for fashion shows, performances and receptions.
The two spaces are linked by a long hallway, whose 16 windows look out directly onto the Moscow river. Here there is also a bar area, ideal for welcome drinks. This passageway can be oriented towards either of the halls.
